Ground Mount System - Fixed Mount

Normally ground mount systems are installed where there is adequate space for large solar arrays.  These types of systems are fixed-mount, meaning they don't track the solar path.  These are cost-effective alternative when roof space or structure is not available.

Ground Mount System - Tracking

There are two types of tracking ground mounts:  single and double access trackers.  Single access trackers follow the sun from east to west.  This system may also have the modules tipped some degrees south.

Double access trackers follow the sun's path both east to west and north to south.  This enables the angle of the module to always be pointed toward the sun no matter what the time of year.

The advantage of these tracking arrays is that they follow the sun's path, giving you and extra 15-20% energy output.

Flush Roof-Mounted

The standard in residential installation is the flush roof-mounted systems.  This is what you typically see driving around your neighborhoods in Colorado.  These systems vary in direction and tilt, but with today's inverter technology shading issues can be addressed and efficiencies gained.

Flat Roof Ballasted

Ballasted systems are installed mainly on commercial structures with flat roofs.  These installations require no attachment to the structure which means no roof penetrations.  They are held in place by a ballast pan.  They also may be installed to point directly south.
