Rebates & Incentives
Collaborative Solar installs complete energy systems on homes and commercial buildings that are affordable. The time is now to take control of your utility expenditures by installing a renewable energy system. As utility rates rise, your system will provide you with fixed-price clean energy for 25-years or more and greatly increases the value of your property.
Tax Credits and Utility Rebates
Combining huge federal tax credits with utility company rebates makes a solar energy system on your home very affordable.
-
Federal Tax Credit. The Federal Government currently offers a 30% tax credit on a residential system. This tax credit can be extended over a two-year time period in order to fully realize the benefit.
-
Utility Rebates. Utility rebates vary by utility providers. Currently Xcel Energy offers $2.25 per watt cash rebate. This rebate is subject to change based on the utilities renewable energy portfolio requirements. This means that now is the time to install solar before the rebates disappear.
-
Commercial properties are eligible to receive rebate payments as much at $2.00 per watt for systems 10KW and larger, up to 500KW with a total cap of $200,000. In addition to this rebate, you are now providing your own clean power for free. As an extra bonus, Xcel Energy will pay you for additional output which you supply to the utility grid per KW hour.
-
Special Bonus Depreciation. For commercial solar, in 2011 a special 100% system depreciation is allowable for your tax returns allowing you to recapture the cost of your system in as little as one to three years. In some cases, you can recapture the cost in one year.
